Prof. E. Muchunga

Prof. I. K. Nyamongo

At the University of Washington, the Advisory Board for this project is similarly broadly based, but its role is that of assistance and support. It is smaller, based more on ensuring a complementary set of expertise than on ensuring all political stakeholders are represented. The UW advisory board includes:

King Holmes, MD, PhD

Chair of the new Department of Global Health, and Director of the UW CFAS. Dr. Holmes played the lead role in the multinational collaborative capacity building at the UN over the past 20 years in HIV and AIDS.

Ira Longini, PhD

Professor of Biostatistics and Director of the Scientific Program on Mathematical Modeling. Dr. Longini is an internationally recognized scholar in the field of HIV vaccine research. He has worked on the analysis and prevention of infectious diseases in international contexts for over 30 years.

Bettina Shell-Duncan, PhD

Associate Professor of Anthropology. Dr. Shell-Duncan is a biodemographer who has worked in Kenya for many years on topics ranging from Vitamin A deficiencies to Female Genital Cutting.

Wolfram Latsch, PhD

Assistant Professor of International Studies and CSDE Training Director. Dr. Latsch is a member of the African Studies Program at the UW. His research on sub-Saharan Africa focuses on the effects of structural adjustment and economic reform.

James Pfeiffer, PhD

Associate Professor, Health Services and Director of Mozambique Operations for Health Alliance International. Dr. Pfeiffer is a medical anthropologist who works in the field of HIV/AID prevention and care.
