The CHIVPR has a strong advisory board, made up of the key institutional stakeholders whose support and interest are crucial for the Center to succeed in the long run. At the University of Washington, the Advisory Board for this project is similarly broadly based, but its role is that of assistance and support. It is smaller, based more on ensuring a complementary set of expertise than on ensuring all political stakeholders are represented. The UW advisory board includes:
King Holmes, MD, PhD |
Chair of the new Department of Global Health, and Director of the UW CFAS. Dr. Holmes played the lead role in the multinational collaborative capacity building at the UN over the past 20 years in HIV and AIDS.

Ira Longini, PhD |
Professor of Biostatistics and Director of the Scientific Program on Mathematical Modeling. Dr. Longini is an internationally recognized scholar in the field of HIV vaccine research. He has worked on the analysis and prevention of infectious diseases in international contexts for over 30 years.

Bettina Shell-Duncan, PhD |
Associate Professor of Anthropology. Dr. Shell-Duncan is a biodemographer who has worked in Kenya for many years on topics ranging from Vitamin A deficiencies to Female Genital Cutting.

Wolfram Latsch, PhD |
Assistant Professor of International Studies and CSDE Training Director. Dr. Latsch is a member of the African Studies Program at the UW. His research on sub-Saharan Africa focuses on the effects of structural adjustment and economic reform.

James Pfeiffer, PhD |
Associate Professor, Health Services and Director of Mozambique Operations for Health Alliance International. Dr. Pfeiffer is a medical anthropologist who works in the field of HIV/AID prevention and care. |
