Susan Cassels awarded NIH Grant
Susan Cassels has received a 5-year grant from the NIH for her continued training and research on "Migration to Urban Slums, Sexual Networks, and HIV in Ghana." The career development award (K99/R00) provides 2 years of mentored support and training, followed by 3 years of independent research support. The objective of her research is to investigate the relationship between migration and population-level HIV transmission dynamics. The hypothesis, that migration significantly influences HIV transmission via changes in timing and sequence of partnerships, will be tested with a stochastic mathematical model of HIV transmission dynamics and sexual network data from migrants in Accra, Ghana.
