CSDE affiliate, James N. Gregory (History), to receive the *James D. Clowes Award for the Advancement of Learning Communities at the UW 2007 Recognition Ceremony
President Emmert has announced the recipients of the University's 2007 awards for distinguished members of our community. The award recipients have been chosen through a nomination process overseen by selection committees made up of their peers. They will be formally recognized for their outstanding achievement and commitment to the University of Washington at the annual Recognition Ceremony, Thursday, June 7, 2007, in Meany Hall for the Performing Arts. The ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception at 4:30 p.m. These events are complimentary and open to the public.
James D. Clowes Award for the Advancement of Learning Communities
This award was established in 2003 in memory of James D. Clowes, who was a leader of the Comparative History of Ideas Program and a member of the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. The award recognizes a faculty or staff member who transforms undergraduate learning at the UW through the development of learning communities. The recipient receives a $3,000 stipend and $2,000 will be allocated to the recipient’s program or department to support student participation in learning communities.
