Seik Kim awarded 2008-09 CSDE Seed Grant

Seik Kim, Assistant Professor Economics, will examine the wage mobility of foreign-born workers in the U.S. over a ten-year period, 1994-2004, to determine whether work experience reduces the wage disparity between them and comparable native-born workers. Preliminary findings suggest that, on the whole, U.S. work experience doesn't diminish the wage gap, but that results are mixed for subgroups. Relative to native-born workers, the wages of some foreign-born groups keep-up or are higher, whereas the wages for other groups tend to fall further behind.
