Research Summary:

Wolfram Latsch teaches at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, at the Department of Economics and at CSDE. He is an economist with interests in economic development and the political economy of sub-Saharan Africa, and in the economic history of Africa. He has conducted research on the impact of economic liberalization in Zimbabwe and on the formation of states and empires in pre-colonial West Africa. He also works in the field of economic thought and economic methodology and has recently written on the computational method in modern economic theory. Before coming to UW in 2003 he taught economics at the University of Oxford and at Northwestern University.

At CSDE he teaches a graduate course on sustainable development which links the study of populations, political economy, technology and the environment.
