Research Summary:

Mikael Jansson is currently involved with four research projects collecting panel data in Victoria, BC Canada, and Sacramento California. Two of these research projects study the health and risk behaviour of youth. One is a random sample of youth while the other is a non-random sample of street-involved youth, some of whom are involved in the sex trade. Two other studies investigate three different occupations: Food servers, barbers and hairdressers, and sex workers. Qualitative and quantitative data collected in both Canada and the United States focus on population health, stigma and health care service delivery. These research projects have a common challenge of maintaining contact with participants, some of whom are very young marginalized people.
