Research Summary:Eric Roth is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Victoria. He has conducted anthropological demographic research with pastoral populations in northern Kenya for the past twenty years. Research topics include: 1) the role of cultural practices upon basic demographic parameters, 2) parental decision-making with respect to offspring education, 3) longitudinal studies of maternal child health, and 4) the interaction between culture, sexual behavior, and sexually transmitted infections. Recently, in collaboration with AIDS Vancouver Island he initiated a project on peer-education about hepatitis C with People who Use Injecting Drugs in Victoria, British Columbia.
