Research Summary:Katie Baird's research interests are in the area of public finance and public policy. She is currently researching issues surrounding the financing of higher education in the United States, particularly as related to college access. Current research projects include an analysis of the determinants of college enrollment rates by race, an examination of federal subsidies to children, and an investigation into the political economy of college prepaid tuition programs. Previous research has examined the role of scholarship restrictions on college football; the location of sex offenders in Tacoma (with Brian Coffey); and the business of baseball in Cuba.
