Remote access to UW library resources
Normally, one has to be on campus to view the electronic resources offered by UW Libraries, however CSDE allows remote-access through CSDE's "Windows Terminal Server" which, as CSDE Affiliates, you are invited to use. Once you are logged into the server, it allows you to search the UW Libraries systems and use their resources as if you were on campus.
If you don't have a CSDE domain account you will need to get one through the Computing Core. They will create a CSDE Windows Domain account for you, then you can connect using a "Remote Desktop Client" from your home, office, or Laptop in Europe... wherever you have an Internet connection, you may connect to our CSDE Terminal Servers.
The account signup is here.
Once you are on those servers, you can use a vast array of Social Sciences software applications and programs. You can also run "Firefox" or "Internet Explorer" on those machines - which if you then point your web browser at the UW libraries, you have full access.
If you already have a domain account, or once you get one, here is the information on how to sign into the terminal servers and use the remote client.
These are directions for finding journal articles.
- Sign into the terminal server using your CSDE account
- Open a web browser (Firefox/Internet Explorer)
- Go to www.lib.washington.edu/
- Enter the journal title into the search box at "UW WorldCat: Search UW Libraries and beyond" on the library homepage
- Journal availability information will be displayed. Use whichever database you would like
- You can then search the database for your articles by title/author/keyword/issue, etc.
