This is a public dataset. Investigators can access this data in two ways.

  1. The CHRR Database Investigator is a retrieval system. Researchers can extract raw NLSY data and prepare that data for statistical analysis. An investigator can create, modify, and save his/her own personalized data.

  2. The NLSY platform datasets are SAS datasets containing select data already extracted from the CHRR Database Investigator retrieval system. Variables have been renamed and longitudinal data has been standardized across years. There is documentation about the contents of the platform datasets, along with source derivations. These datasets were developed to be ready for analysis, with little to no data manipulation required.

To apply for access to either the CHRR Database Investigator or the NLSY platform datasets, please complete the CSDE Dataset Access Request form.
