SAS I: Beginning SAS or HOW TO GET STARTED and NOW WHAT?

Next workshop scheduled for two Thursdays, May 10, 2007 and May 17, 2007 both 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
(This workshop combines the previously named SAS I and SAS II workshops.)

Note: This is not a statistics class. You will need to have taken a statistics class or have equivalent experience to benefit from learning how to use this software.

SAS I - HOW TO GET STARTED and NOW WHAT?

Duration:Two 2 hour sessions

This workshop assumes no previous experience with SAS
Prerequisites: Familiarity with MS Windows environment and knowledge of fundamental statistical concepts.

Topics include

  • Navigating OUTPUT in the RESULTS window
  • Libraries and the EXPLORER window
  • SAS default features
  • Importing and exporting datasets
  • Creating and saving datasets
  • Viewing values and contents of data
  • Basic DATA STEP processing
  • Debugging via the LOG
  • Operations and functions
  • Formats, creating and assigning
  • Descriptive statistics procedures like PROC UNIVARIATE and PROC FREQ
  • Introduction to regression procedures like PROC REG and PROC LOGISTIC
