Kelsey Barrett is interested in neglected tropical disease control. She currently works for PATH on research studies focused on introducing new diagnostic tools into surveillance systems for neglected tropical diseases, but is interested in working in new areas of global health/international development as well. She recently decided to complete the Evans School MPA degree in addition to her global health MPH, and is seeking out faculty mentors in the Evans School. Before PATH, she worked in West Africa for a nonprofit that leads community education programs on health, human rights, and small business management. She is interested in gender equality and women’s empowerment. She also just accepted a foreign language areas studies (FLAS) fellowship for Swahili language studies in the 2017-2018 school year, and would be interested in working with mentors active in East Africa.
