Christina Hughes

Department: Sociology

Christina Hughes is a graduate student in the Sociology department. Her research has previously focused on how women negotiate social mobility within micro and macro hierarchies. Working under the guidance of Dr. Susanne Lohmann at UCLA, her senior thesis concentrated on the interplay between the political economy of oil-rich states in the Middle East, tertiary education funding, and women’s labor force participation. Her current research centers on measurement techniques of fertility among refugee versus other immigrant populations and their implications for research on immigrant assimilation.
