
Sarah entered the PhD program at the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance in fall 2012. She earned a BA in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan, and completed a year of service work with City Year Detroit before earning an MPP from the Johns Hopkins University in 2009. Her research interests include poverty; human service programs and poverty alleviation; and the relationships among unemployment, underemployment, and individual- and community-level barriers to work among low-income populations.
