Upcoming Events On Campus and Online
We're excited to highlight several upcoming events open in-person or remotely:
- UW Women in Economics (WiE) is hosting a special event on Thursday, May 12th at 5:30pm featuring Nicolas Petrosky-Nadeau and Olivia Lofton of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, who will be presenting their research, “Perspectives on the pandemic labor market and working parents.” The event will be held in HUB 145 and doors open at 5:30pm. - Math Across Campus at UW hosts its second talk of Spring 2022 on Friday, May 13th at 3:30pm in PAA 110. Professor Chaitra Nagaraja of Fordham University will be the featured speaker - her talk is entitled, “The Anatomy of a Number.”
- UW is hosting a Discovering AI@UW event on May 23rd from 8am to 5:30pm in the Lyceum Room of the HUB and on Zoom. This day-long event will host conversations with Artificial Intelligence experts from across the University of Washington campus.
- The National Academies Committee of National Statistics is hosting a virtual event on U.S. Household Income, Wealth, and Consumption Data & Statistics on Monday, May 16th from 8am to 1pm PDT. Registration is free and there is a great line-up of speakers.
- The Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is hosting a Webinar on Wednesday May 11th at 11am PDT entitled, “The Wisconsin Approach to Developing Administrative Data Resources for Research & Evaluation.” Registration is free.

The Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research is a hybrid learning opportunity offering two four-week sessions and short workshops. CSDE Workshop NEXT WEEK: Data Storage & Usage with the UW Data Collaborative
Are you interested in using sensitive, confidential, or restricted data in your research? The UW Data Collaborative, housed here at CSDE, can provide the infrastructure necessary to work with innovative, but hard-to-access and highly sensitive data. Learn about the types of data the UWDC stores, including existing datasets, and how to access them at our CSDE Workshop: Data Storage & Usage with the UW Data Collaborative from UWDC Director Phil Hurvitz on Wednesday, May 18, 10:00am-11:30am.
The final workshop of the quarter will cover Observational Ethnographic Research: Online and Offline with Jessica Beyer on Thursday, June 2, 12:00-2:00 PM PT. (read more)

Mark Your Calendars: Final Seminar in the Center for Health Innovation & Policy Science Series on Homelessness
CSDE-Sponsored, Student-Led Event: “Roe v Wade: Impact, Solution, and Empowerment”
This event is an opportunity for activists, organizations, and the greater community to come together and discuss what is at stake for Roe v Wade, and its place within the Reproductive justice movement. The event is sponsored by the UW Alene Moris Women's Center, as well as the Center for Studies in Demography & Ecology. Join us on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at 10:00 am – 2:30 pm PST for a safe space of education, dialogue, and empowerment to provide actionable steps and resources to help advocate for reproductive rights.
