Human Development and Social Policy

Heather Hill joined the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance as an Associate Professor in 2014. Prior to that, she was Assistant Professor at the School of Social Service Administration, University of Chicago. She received her PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University in 2007. Her research examines how public and workplace policies influence family economic circumstances and child well-being in low-income families. Hill conducts experimental, quasi-experimental and non-experimental research using both quantitative and qualitative data. Her training and research orientation are fundamentally multidisciplinary and population-focused. Her work has been published in top disciplinary and inter-disciplinary journals, including the Journal of Public Policy and Management, Demography, Work and Occupations, and the Journal of Health Economics.
