In recent years, most big and expensive cities have been losing kids as families have been struggling to cover the cost of living. However, the opposite is happening in Seattle and Washington D.C. According to the Wall Street Journal article, “Seattle and D.C. Are Bucking the Trend by Attracting Families With Kids,” the population of children under 18 in both cities grew 10% between 2015 and 2024, a bigger increase than in many family-friendly Sunbelt locales.
