Sam Sellers is a scholar and practitioner whose research has spanned the intersection of demographic change, human health, and the environment. He currently works as a researcher on the HealthySSPs project with the UW Center for Health and the Global Environment, exploring how socioeconomic and demographic trends will shape responses to climate change. Before returning to the UW in November 2025, Sam worked for five years at the U.S. Agency for International Development, where he managed biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and reproductive health projects. He co-chaired USAID's Climate and Health working group and worked actively within the Bureau for Global Health to advance climate adaptive health activities. Sam is interested in better understanding how population decline will impact environmental change (and vice versa) as well as how institutional strengthening can help facilitate effective adaptation to demographic change.
