Karin Frey is a Research Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the College of Education. Her research focuses on contextual influences on revenge, helping behavior, self-identity and resilience. She is the PI of a study currently underway that examines the influences of friends, cultural norms, and perceived peer norms in a sample of Indigenous-, Mexican-, European-, and African-Americans (the latter both native born and immigrant). A complementary sample of Chinese- and Pakistani-Canadians is also being collected to assure representation from different types of honor, face, and dignity cultures. Other ongoing work compares the contributions of different types of classroom norms (prescriptive beliefs, observed behavior) to bullying and revenge in multilevel analyses.
