Julie Sojin Kim, PhD, is a postdoctoral scholar in Health Policy and a New Map of Life Fellow. She is a statistical demographer whose research focuses on developing statistical models to measure and forecast demographic indicators and health burden under different policy contexts and scenarios. As a New Map of Life Fellow, she is working on projects to identify which components of age-related disease burden are most amenable to technological innovation. Her doctoral research focused on developing statistical models for population forecasting and estimating fertility, mortality, and migration across social and geographic dimensions. She completed her PhD in Health Metrics Sciences at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, Master of Science degree at Harvard University and Bachelor of Science degree at University of Pennsylvania. During her doctoral degree, Julie has been affiliated with Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) and International Institute for Advanced Systems Analysis (IIASA).
