Purpose
The Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (formerly the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute) works to stimulate and facilitate UW research on alcohol and drug use and addiction through its Small Grants Program, which awards funds to UW researchers for pilot studies and developmental research. The scope ranges from pharmacology of drugs to studies of clinical treatment strategies, prevention, and social policy issues. UW researchers should consider the Small Grants Program as a resource to help develop research through initial funding for promising pilot projects which may ultimately be developed into full studies with outside funding.
Regular Small Grants (all alcohol and drug topics)
Research is supported across a broad range of study related to alcohol and drug use and addiction, from pharmacology to clinical and psychosocial research. These grants are available to UW researchers only. Applications are due by 5:00pm on March 15, 2022.
- Award limit: $30,000 to faculty and research scientists; $20,000 to mentored predoctoral students and postdoctoral fellows.

Cannabis Small Grants
Research is supported across a broad range of study related to cannabis use, from pharmacology to clinical and psychosocial research. Funding this cycle is for up to 12 months. These grants are available to UW researchers only.

- Earliest start date: July 1, 2022
- End date: June 30, 2023
