Are you a population forecasting expert? Portland State Looks for Demographers

Posted: 1/10/2022 ()

Portland State University’s Population Center is looking to hire two researchers to produce county level forecasts for Oregon. The senior position (posting available HERE) will lead research and production of Oregon county level population projections with race/ethnicity, sex, and age detail. Oregon counties range in size from around 1,000 persons to 800,000, so knowledge of small area methods is important, in addition to familiarity with demographic methods and census data. The position is full time with benefits; remote or hybrid work possible. It’s listed as a senior research assistant so that it’s possible to reach persons who are ABD, but the position will be made appropriate to the rank of the best candidate. The postdoctoral position (posting available HERE) will involve collaborating on a research plan with PRC faculty and working on a research agenda related to migration, small area population estimates, remote sensing, and demographic analysis to support redistricting.
