West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), a regional divisional four-year campus of West Virginia University (WVU) located in Southern West Virginia (Beckley), is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Social Science/Public Administration within the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics. We are seeking an outstanding teacher to complement the faculty in a multidisciplinary department.

The successful candidate is expected to educate a student population that is primarily rural or first generation and will be responsible for teaching economics courses for the department’s baccalaureate programs and service classes for other majors. The assignment includes teaching twelve undergraduate hours per semester in introductory economics and such upper division courses as Public Economics, Statistics, and Economics of Crime. The candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, join a department with a student-centered philosophy, and will be expected to pursue scholarly activity and service.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a doctorate in economics or related field; or an ABD in economics or related field with the doctorate completed by the date of appointment. Experience with online instructional technologies, teaching Web classes, and evidence of scholarly promise are desirable.
