The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of Sociology (R96949) in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. We seek a candidate with expertise in urban contexts and contemporary social concerns. We expect the successful candidate to have a research agenda in areas such as poverty, food insecurity, social inequality, gender, and/or education. Preference will be shown for candidates who will involve undergraduates in research projects and develop public, participatory, and/or community work in our local area.

The position involves teaching, research, and service to the Sociology program (ualr.edu/sociology), the department, the college, and the university, and coordination of the Poverty Studies certificate program in partnership with the Shepard Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (see https://www.shepherdconsortium.org).

A successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for excellence in research, as well as in undergraduate teaching and advising. Required Education and/or Experience: Applicants must have a PhD in Sociology (ABD may be considered if all PhD requirements are met prior to employment). Preferred Education and/or Experience: Preference will be shown for candidates who will involve undergraduates in research projects and develop public, participatory, and/or community work in our local area.
