Emma White Research, a small and growing firm based in Ann Arbor, MI, is seeking a Research Analyst to support the public opinion research we conduct for clients such as non-profit organizations, labor unions, and local governments. Our work provides information and guidance to changemakers, and the right candidate for this position will be excited
about that mission and about helping a small business grow and succeed. This position will be an excellent opportunity for growth and development — as a key team member in a small firm, the Research Analyst will have responsibilities for many facets of the work. Our desired candidate will have 2-5 years professional experience analyzing and communicating about public opinion surveys or other similar data, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. He or she must have proficiency in SPSS, R, or other statistical software. The right candidate will be an excellent communicator; detail-oriented; self-motivated and committed to high-quality work; enthusiastic about learning new things; creative and flexible; and able to work independently and to a deadline.

Responsibilities:
●      Clean and process survey data, including coding open-ended questions, combining variables for analysis, weighting, and producing crosstab tables;
●     Draft analysis and reports, including graphical illustrations of survey findings;
●      Participate in the design of survey questionnaires or qualitative instruments;
●      Assist in management of subcontractors such as collecting and evaluating bids, and tracking performance of deliverables; and
●      Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.

Potential areas of growth and opportunities for learning and leadership:
●      Development of qualitative research skills; and
●      Leadership in improving our data presentation and visualization by developing new approaches to presenting data to clients either in static or dashboard format.

Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience analyzing, communicating about, and visualizing survey or other similar data, or Master’s Degree in quantitative social sciences; fluency in SPSS, R, or other statistical software; excellent written and verbal communication skills; exception attention to detail including when working on a tight timeline; proven ability to manage multiple assignments with deadlines; the ability to think through tasks independently, with good judgment and strong problem-solving skills; capacity to work independently and within a team structure; professional demeanor; strong work ethic; positive attitude; self‐motivated with a desire to learn; creative and flexible. Proficiency
with data visualization tools and software would be an asset but is not required.

Hours and Expectations
This position is largely remote, though we have a preference for candidates located in Southeast Michigan, and some local meetings may be required once that is safe.  Salaried employees are provided a laptop and expected to have cell phone and internet access during working hours (9 am to 5 pm). This is a deadline-driven business, and this role may periodically require evening and weekend hours. Travel may be required (again, once it is safe to do so).

Application Procedure
Interested individuals should send a cover letter, resume and three references electronically in either MS Word or PDF format to emma@ewhiteresearch.com. Applicants are encouraged to take extra time to detail their skills and experience in the cover letter. Resumes must show relevant experience. Incomplete submissions will not receive further review.

Salary and benefits
Full-time salary commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes retirement plan with 3% match; salary supplement for health insurance; and paid holidays/vacation. Our firm has a culture of investment in employee
growth and will be open to various ways of supporting your continued learning.
