Senior Healthcare Analytics Research Coordinator

This critical position serves as the lead healthcare data analyst within the Health Analytics Office of Hawaii’s Medicaid Agency (i.e. Med-QUEST Division), responsible for all analytic, reporting, quality measurement, and evaluation functions.

Key Functions:

1. Create and implement managed care reporting requirements; develop and
design report templates that help the Medicaid agency assure contract
compliance and support performance evaluation of contracted managed care
plans.

2. Design and implement quality-based pay for performance programs to
reflect the priorities of the agency.

3. Conduct or oversee program evaluation for various initiatives.

4. Create and disseminate standardized and ad hoc data reports in various
formats to multiple stakeholders and fulfill data requests from external
agencies.

5. Oversee analytics and reporting from the state’s All Payer Claims
Database.

6. Provide consultation, technical assistance, and training on data
analytics as needed to internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. A master’s or doctorate degree in Biostatistics, Health Economics, Health Analytics, Health Informatics, Epidemiology/Clinical Epidemiology, or Health Services Research or equivalent education.

2. At least four years of professional work experience in health analytics, health informatics, epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, health economics, or healthcare actuarial studies with substantial experience in working with clinical, population-based health, or healthcare claims data and in appropriately using the findings of these studies to develop recommendations is expected. Proficiency in using statistical software programs such as SAS and deploying statistical models on large
healthcare analytic datasets.

3. Two years of work experience in the field of quantitative analysis which involved supervising others in conducting research projects.

Salary Range: $90,000-$125,000 per year, negotiable based on education and experience.

Incumbents will be employees of the State of Hawaii, and must demonstrate proof of residency in Hawaii within thirty (30) days from the start date of employment.
