Clara Berridge Analyzes Implications of Medicaid Coverage for Passive Remote Monitoring Technologies

In an article published in the Journal of Medical Research, affiliate Clara Berridge examines the approaches of state Medicaid programs to technologies that enable passive remote monitoring. Berridge–an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work–and her research team performed a policy analysis based on interviews with Medicaid program stakeholders regarding the inclusion of remote technologies in state waivers, along with related regulation policies. Based on the team’s findings, Berridge concludes that new service categories should be created in order to enable oversight of support services for older adults provided through these technologies, use of which will depend on decisions about Medicaid reimbursement.
