IPUMS National Historical GIS (NHGIS) Data Collection Updates

IPUMS stands for data integrated across time, space and scientific domains. IPUMS makes it easy to study change and conduct comparative research–by imposing consistent codes, supplying detailed documentation, and creating customized datasets. The IPUMS National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS) provides free online access to summary statistics and GIS files for U.S. censuses and other nationwide surveys from 1790 through the present. NHGIS Is pleased to announce several major updates to the NHGISÂ data collection including:
- New American Community Survey (ACS) data
- New time series data (Release 8)
- New GIS files
- New types of data
- Faster processing of large table requests
