CSDE’s Spring Quarter Seminar Series Finalized!

Posted: 3/23/2021 (CSDE Seminar Series)

CSDE’s team, particularly the chair of our seminar series Professor Maria Bleil (Nursing), has organized a great series of talks and panels for the upcoming spring quarter.  Thanks to all who provided suggestions for speakers including Zack Almquist, Anjum Hajat, Jon Wakefield, Maria Bleil, Jennie Romich, and Christine Leibbrand.  Thanks to the West Coast Poverty Center for co-sponsoring Alejandra Ros Pilarz’ talk on April 23, when she will discuss trends in mother’s work schedules. We’re delighted that UW researchers will be presenting their work with talks by Mandy Fretts (Epidemiology) on Native American cardio-metabolic health, Pat Louie (Sociology) on racial differences in coping resources, and Karen Snedker on tents in Seattle. For those fielding online surveys, you might be particularly interested in the May 28 panel on fraud in survey research, including UW researcher Danielle Woodward (Social Work). Our external speakers include Frauke Kreuter (University of Maryland) on a global survey research platform for COVID studies, Shakira Suglia (Emory) on childhood adversity and disparities in cardiovascular disease, and Carl Schmertmann (Florida State University) on estimating total fertility using age pyramids and Bayesian models.  For the CSDE community, definitely place a hold on your calendar for the end of the year event, when we celebrate accomplishments among our trainees and early career faculty!
Click here for the series flier and the seminar is open to any registrants.
Enjoy your spring break safely!  And see you soon!
